Anson Lam
Yuk Ching (Anson) Lam is a dedicated and accomplished classical pianist. Beginning his musical journey at the age of three, Lam has since earned numerous accolades in prestigious piano competitions, notably a 1st place in the Grade 8 Piano Solo event at the 69th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival at 12 years old.
He is also a multiple-time prize-winner in the Hong Kong Children and Youth Piano Competition. At the age of six Lam participated in his first international piano competition in Beijing; most recently he participated in the 6th Fujairah International Piano Competition. Lam received the Highly Commended Award in the 2025 edition of the Royal College of Music’s Kendall Taylor Beethoven Competition, remarked for his youthful and fluid performance by Dr. Lei Weng.
In 2022, Lam achieved a Distinction in Piano Performance from the Licentiate of Trinity College of Music. He is currently honing his craft under the tutelage of Professor Ilya Kondratiev at the Royal College of Music. Lam has also been coached by decorated chamber pianists such as Simon Lepper, Kumi Matsuo, Kathron Sturrock and Nigel Clayton. He has performed for internationally renowned pianists such as Dina Parakhina, Sofya Gulyak, Eleanor Wong and more.
Lam made his solo debut at St Stephens, Walbrook in November 2025. As a duo with a violist, he has debuted at the University Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Oxford; other collaborative performances include masterclasses and recitals with other instrumentalists e.g. saxophonists and cellists.
Lam graduated from Diocesan Boys’ School in 2023 as the top scorer of the IB Diploma. Passionate for multiple genres of music, he is an experienced choir accompanist; he enjoys pop music production and improvising piano arrangements. In the 25/26 season, Lam is organising a solo recital series around London.
