Our tutors are well practiced at teaching pupils of all ages and Piano and Strings currently has a substantial group of adults that commit to regular lessons. Similarly to teaching young people our mission for all our adult students is to enjoy and develop a love of music making during private lessons with our exceptional Musician Tutors. 

The satisfaction gained from helping adults progress is very special and unique in each situation. As musicians we are keen to help adults players, either beginners or returners to music, as they are often self-motivated and pro-active individuals and the initiative to take up lessons is different from a child’s situation when it comes from their parents. Learning an instrument and delving into the musical art form is an undertaking which requires a healthy amount of commitment and dedication at all levels and ages.

We frequently receive request from adults who have played when they were younger, often to a high level but drifted away from music when life became too busy and full. Once people’s lives are “set” in a certain way they often feel they have the time and space to recapture their passion for music, which they remember and cherish from childhood or their teenage years.

Likewise we also get regular enquiries from adults who are beginners and have never played before. This group have often wanted to learn but perhaps were never given the opportunity, or never had the time.
